The National Private Pilot's Licence (NPPL)

The National Private Pilot Licence for Aeroplanes, NPPL(A), is a UK national licence. It may be used on UK-registered aircraft in UK airspace. Flight outside the UK requires the permission of the relevant foreign aviation authority.
The NPPL(A) course requires at least 32 hours of flight time, including at least 10 hours of supervised solo flight. The course also includes the theoretical knowledge training, examinations, navigation training and skill test required by the current NPPL(A) syllabus. Previous flying experience and available credits will be assessed individually.
The minimum age for licence issue is 17. A Pilot Medical Declaration may be acceptable for training, supervised solo flight and initial licence issue, subject to the applicant meeting the current CAA requirements. We will explain the applicable medical options before solo flight.
The privileges and limitations of the licence depend on the class rating held. We will discuss the PPL(A) and NPPL(A) routes with each student before training begins.
